Following last night’s PS5 console reveal we got a look at a few games coming to the next-gen console. Among these was a new Oddworld Soulstorm PS5 trailer, and it appears Abe’s adventures are set to get a whole lot trickier.
Oddworld Soulstorm PS5 trailer; our verdict
As you’ll see from the Oddworld Soulstorm PS5 trailer, the game is set for release on both PS4 and PS5 consoles plus PC, and it’ll remain an exclusive at launch for a limited time. Although right now there’s no concrete date as to when the game will arrive on any platform.
Similar to how we saw the remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey in the form of New N’ Tasty, Oddworld Soulstorm will be a remake of Abe’s Exodus. For those who never had the opportunity to play Abe’s Exodus, it tells the story of how Abe takes a leadership role of the defenceless Mudokons, utilising their powers to come out victorious over those who seek to destroy them.
The Oddworld Soulstorm trailer shows us some impressive scenes which involve some near-misses heading through a mechanical factory and a massive fight going on in the train in the desert. Along with that, there’s lots of Mudokons going pop! As you’d expect, there are plenty of comedic moments but Oddworld appears to show players that things can go downhill pretty quickly.
Oddworld has kept to the standard side-scrolling elements of gameplay but the Oddworld Soulstorm trailer shows that the cinematics has been seriously pumped up since the original. As long as I can launch a grenade and dissect a Slig, that’s enough for me!
