Ever since the original Crash Team Racing launched on the PS1 there’s always been a debate as to who the Crash Team Racing best characters are, and even showing the stats for each character that’s carried on to Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. With Penta Penguin coming out as supposedly being the fastest, and N.Tropy going head to head with N. Oxide it’s about time we got some clarity once and for all.
We still have the original set of characters from the original game, but Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled has made some additions, so the Crash Team Racing best characters we saw in the nineties could crown a new champion with the remaster.
Crash Team Racing best characters – it’s not just about stats
The way Crash Team Racing worked in the nineties, basing the Crash Team Racing best characters on their individual stats isn’t something that’s been consistant in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled. Four different stat sets have been applied to the first set of 26 characters we see in Nitro-Fueled, so basing who was the best from the original isn’t going to apply here whatsoever.
Crash Team Racing best characters – the beginners
First up we have the beginners, with each character owning the exact same stats; Acceleration of 4, Speed of 3, and 7 for Turning. If you’re a newbie to the Crash Team racing series, or even games like Mario Kart 8: deluxe, then this is the category for you. Newcomers will only have two characters available to begin with; Pura and Polar, so these are a great choice if this status applied to you.
Crash Team Racing best characters – the intermediates
Next up on our list are the intermediate racers, instead of just one these own two of each stat; 5 of turning, 5 Acceleration, 5 Speed or 3 Turning, 7 Acceleration and 4 speed. Coco Bandicoot uses the second set of stats (7 Acceleration etc.) while Dr. Neo Cortex and Crash Bandicoot utilise the first set – they are all available when you begin the game. Which stats you prefer here will come into it, so if you prefer your speed to an acceleration stat then Crash would be a better option than Coco.
Crash Team Racing best characters – the advanced
the last set of characters we have fall under the advanced category. From the start of the game the only two advanced drivers you’ll have are Dingodile and Tiny Tiger. Both racers will have 2 turning, 7 Speed, and 3 Acceleration, so when you’ve got the game mechanics of to a tee these two will be your go-to’s.Having the highest speed in conjunction with power sliding around a lap are the most important attributes for wining your next race, and these two drivers own the means to do so.
Crash Team Racing best characters – who gets the crown?
When answering who the Crash Team Racing best characters are it’s tricky to nail down to just one driver. Instead we believe any driver that falls into the advanced category gets the vote. Papu Papu, Dingodile, Penta Penguin, N. Tropy, Zem, Tiny Tiger and Big Norm are all of the advanced drivers. There is of course a possibility of having secret stats or upgrading stats that come in the future (we’ll update this article if it does), and if it did it might be easier to choose the Crash Team Racing best characters.
For now though, not one single driver is the ‘best’ that you’ll see winning all of the online races. If this changes, we’ll let you know as we’ll be using them!
