Most of us are counting the hours until the next instalment to the Marvel Universe drops this week – Avengers Endgame. Just in case the hype spread across the internet wasn’t enough, Epic games have now dangled a carrot for a Fortnite Avengers Endgame crossover event (also happening this week).

Do you remember back in 2018 when Avengers: Infinity War dropped? If you do and you’re a Fortnite fan you’ll also recall Thanos dropping a time-limited Infinity Gauntlet into the game. The Fortnite Avengers Endgame crossover seems to be following suit to give fans what they want, except it’s missing one things from the teaser – there’s no sign of an Infinity Gauntlet which has appeared on occasion on the lead up to Avengers Endgame.

What could the Fortnite Avengers Endgame crossover include?

In theory it seems as though we are looking at something brand new, perhaps a new mode. One thing seems almost certain though, Captain America seems like he’s going to take a star role if the artwork above is anything to go by.

Similar to how players took on the role of Thanos, the Fortnite Avengers Endgame crossover could see Cap’s shield drop somewhere in the world for players to utilise some of the stars and stripes’ abilities. Could there be a 1 vs 1 of Cap facing Thanos? Either of the aforementioned theories would sit well with me!

When is the Fortnite Avengers Endgame event?

Fortunately we won’t have to ponder exactly what the event could turn into for too long, as Epic’s Tweet shows the event is due to come live on the 25th April. This date is smack bang in the middle of the global movie rollout of Avengers Endgame (it releases through 24th – 26th April), so it’s going to hit fans right in the centre of Cap’s shield’s star. The original Infinity Gauntlet event from last year had a duration of 7 days, although we’ve no idea as yet how long the Fortnite Avengers Endgame event is due to last out.

I've been a gamer ever since I was old enough to hold a controller, early 90's to be exact. My first console was a NES, with my favourite games ranging from Super Mario to Duck Hunt. Fast forward almost 30 years and I'm now a PS4, PC and Switch player. My ideal genres are RPG and RTS titles, so Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts, Viv 6 and Two Point Hospital are included in my mix.

Have your say!
