The latest instalment to seeing characters from Sega and Nintendo in a crossover is on its way, with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 coming in the latter part of 2019. The games are going to be happening in Japan in the real world, in unison with the game releasing to take part in the same types of sports in November.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – what’s so fascinating?
So glad you asked. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is coming to Switch when it first launches, and to tease eager fans a trailer has been released. That’s all well and good but the Sega and Nintendo community are a little too intrigued by a particular shot of Doctor Eggman alongside Wario on a podium waving at their adoring fans. Oh, did we mention they’re half-naked and not in the form we’re used to seeing them in with their usual attire? Check out the image in the tweet below.

Looking at the above Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo image, one name springs to mind… Kylo Ren. Or is that just us? Doctor Eggman owns it! Now Mario’s feet, if we get to see them they’ll surely be a mess with all that jumping, and considering he’s a plumber (among other trades) they surely need a deep clean before he starts running any marathons!
The big one for fans though was the question of why Wario’s nipples appear to have fallen off in the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo images. Did Bowser eat them? Did Yoshi mistake them for Toadstools? Who knows. If you look really closely it does appear there’s something there, but it begs the question as to why Nintendo has made them so faint when Super Mario: Odyssey saw Mario in swimshorts and having prominent teets.

Oh, and let’s not look over the fact that both Wario and Doctor Eggman appear to have completely lost their belly buttons. Surely it didn’t just close up? Its certainly going to send the community into a spiralling mess when (or if) we get to see Sonic the Hedgehog’s feet, who knows what’s going on there!
Regardless of the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 naked antics, it’ll be unlikely we will get to see much more of what’s really going on until the game launches in the next few months. Get a magnifying glass at the ready and your detective hat on, the Sonic and Mario multiverse is going to be a strange one.
