Out of the blue without prior warning, PUBG and PES 2019 Free To play titles are available to download on the Xbox store right now, but it’s important to act fast is this is likely going to be a one-off limited time offer.

There’s been no announcement whatsoever from Microsoft to say why Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds, which only came out of early access in September, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 released on 30th August are free.

If you head over to either of the games download pages on the Microsoft Store you’ll see that these games are only available for a ”limited time only”. Even if you’re unlikely to play them just yet or have no space available on your Xbox hard drive once you hit download they will be yours to keep forever. You can then go back and download them at your convenience.

It was The Verge that first found out about this limited time offer, with PUBG and PES 2019 free to play without any issues whatsoever.

It does sound as though this is very out of the ordinary, but with Microsoft having it’s X018 event this weekend maybe its not such a coincidence after all.

With PUBG coming to PS4 next month as well as a PUBG/DC crossover there’s plenty of reason to download the freebie if you haven’t already purchased it. Is Microsoft clutching its straws before PUBG is no longer an exclusive? Who knows.

Having PES 2019 free to play on the other hand doesn’t really fall under that explanation, there’s no logical reason for it being free. Much like PES 2018 came to Xbox Game Pass it looked as though PES 2019 would follow the same trend, apparently not. So what are the MS boys up to? Check back here for any updates.
