Spyro Reignited Trilogy sales figures looking healthy
Although last week’s release of Pokemon let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu smashed it out of the park, Hitman 2 and Fallout 76 didn’t really do so well, while the physical copies of Spyro Reignited Trilogy Sales currently tops the Uk gaming charts.
We all remember (at least those old enough to) how great the fire-breathing purple dragon was when he made his PS1 debut in 1998. It seems as though history has repeated itself with Activision’s most recent release claiming the number one spot with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy sales.
There’s a slight catch though
Not to take away the spotlight from our remastered dragon, but when Pokemon lets Go launched last week it did actually count as two versions (both Pikachu and Eevee separately), meaning the way the UK chart is collated that they claimed two spots in the charts. If both editions had counted as one they’d have swiped away the limelight from the Spyro Reignited Trilogy sales.
In comparison to the launches from previous Pokemon editions on the 3DS which include X and Y, the Let’s Go sales were down a modest five percent. This isn’t so bad though considering the launch of Sun and Moon launch comparison saw a drop of a huge 60 percent when tallied against X and Y.
Bearing in mind both Pokemon let’s Go versions are essentially remasters of the GameBoy Red and Blue classics, Nintendo aren’t going to be too concerned about the figures so far. The thing to bear in mind is that these games are targeted at everyone, however its a younger audience that has the biggest uptake of games, and who unlike us adults don’t purchaser games one after the other before they’ve got near to completing the last!
The UK charts industry Chart-Track only take physical copies into consideration so the likelihood is botrh Let’s Go editions have sold a lot more in digital salles.
The current chart standings
- Spyro Reignited Trilogy
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Fallout 76
- Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu
- FIFA 19
- Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee
- Call of Duty: Blops 4
- Fortnite: Deep Freeze Bundle
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Hitman 2
According to GamesIndustry.biz there were apparently some problems with the stock of let’s Go, meaning stock was limited and some still missed out even though they had pre-ordered the game.
Hitman 2 came out in a whopping 10th place, meaning its physical sales were down a huge 90 percent on its previous titles, perhaps its because itr was released with the likes of fallout 76 and Spyro Reignited Trilogy sales in the same week. While on the subject of Fallout 76, with the build up to the game releasing having such big expectations it’s physical sales have come in 82 percent on that of it’s Fallout 4 predecessor, and as it stands the game isn’t getting the perceived reaction from fans to say the least.
