Cyberpunk 2077 hardcore mode to allow players to disable User Interface

It’s common for most shooters today to implement some kind of legendary mode for the elite gamers out there, perhaps Halo Infinite will be on of them. CD Projekt Red have communicated that a Cyberpunk 2077 hardcore mode will be available, which of course will make gameplay MUCH harder, but also eliminates the use of indicators and markers by removing the UI.

Cyberpunk 2077 hardcore mode: what we know

In an interview with WCCFtech discussing the Cyberpunk 2077 hardcore mode, Alvin Liu UI coordinator says “The most fun [difficulty mode] I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI you live as well,” further adding “And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players. Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that. We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 hardcore mode is going to offer a much more immersive difficulty setting than we’re used to. I mean lowering your core health and raising your enemy health bars is one thing, but completely shutting down the use of an on-screen UI to not be able to see incoming enemies or where you need to go is a whole different ball game. I guess it could be likened to that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey where you had the option of being shown the way, or the alternative of a much more realistic gameplay to simply go by clues you uncover. It’s a little different though when bullets are flying rather than defending from swords and flying arrows!

I've been a gamer ever since I was old enough to hold a controller, early 90's to be exact. My first console was a NES, with my favourite games ranging from Super Mario to Duck Hunt. Fast forward almost 30 years and I'm now a PS4, PC and Switch player. My ideal genres are RPG and RTS titles, so Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts, Viv 6 and Two Point Hospital are included in my mix.

Have your say!
