Gears of War 5 release date & cover art is revealed unintentionally in leak

It might not have been intentional but it seems as though a potential Gears of War 5 release date, along with an idea of the game art/packaging may have been leaked. As with any leak, the Gears of War 5 release date and box art may not be authentic, but what we do know is that the leak surfaced from a ratings board from Taiwan.

The Gears of War 5 box art does seem pretty realistic, with the IDB (industrial development bureau) in Taiwan being theĀ  place that hosts it.

When could we see a Gears of War 5 release date?

According to a fan site over in Spain called Generacion Xbox we could well be looking at a Gears of War 5 release date coming later this year on September 10th.

Aside from the Gears of War 5 release date, we can see from the retail artwork that the pendant shaped like a locust which appeared at the end of Gears of War 4 is being held by Kait, accompanied by the locust queen Myrahh and Marcus Felix to the left of the front cover. It seems odd that Myrahh is pictured as she was killed off by Marcus two games prior, but there may just be memories or flashbacks – unless of course her death was a smokescreen?

What makes the Gears of War 5 release date and box art leak more believable is the fact that The Coalition, Gears 5 developer has said previously that Kait will be a predominant character in which players will delve into “her family ties to the Locusts”. In other words the box art could well be spot on having Kait centred in the box art, with Myrahh and Marcus on either side of her.

On the left hand side of the artwork you will see two faces who are likely to cause a pain in the ass to your gameplay, while on the lower-right features JD and Del Fenix who players will recall from the predecessor Gears of War 4. Lastly, there’s certainly something hiding in the box art blood splurge, almost like a forest? Could it be the former locust base of Mount Kadar? Maybe we’re reading into it too much, it’s a little tricky to tell for sure.

We’re almost certainly going to be seeing an appearance of Gears 5, and hopefully a confirmed Gears of War 5 release date at E3 2019. There’s every possibility we’ll see the artwork above and a release date during the show next month.

I've been a gamer ever since I was old enough to hold a controller, early 90's to be exact. My first console was a NES, with my favourite games ranging from Super Mario to Duck Hunt. Fast forward almost 30 years and I'm now a PS4, PC and Switch player. My ideal genres are RPG and RTS titles, so Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts, Viv 6 and Two Point Hospital are included in my mix.

Have your say!
