If you’ve already started your run on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta, then, fortunately, your access won’t be affected in any way. For those in Russa however, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 store has pulled the beta, although all other platforms remain unaffected. Activision hasn’t explained the definitive reason behind the removal of the beta, but a rep from Activision issued a statement to Charlie Intel.

“Unfortunately Sony Interactive Entertainment is unable to support the Modern Warfare Beta on PS4 in Russia this weekend. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available. This does not affect our Beta plans on other platforms next weekend,” Reading between the lines it seems as though the subsequent betas will still move forward in Russia.

There have also been a lot of concerns from the Modern Warfare player base in Russia asking what the news means for those pre-ordering the game. It’s not looking good right now as a PlayStation Russia support rep explained that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 store pre-orders is also shut down for now and that moving forward the title was no longer going to be available to purchase. To back this up the information was then confirmed as being authentic by a Russian PlayStation PR rep, essentially saying the same story surrounding pre-orders being pulled.

Why exactly the Call of Duty Modern Warfare PS4 store in Russia removed the listing is an unknown right now, theories suggest that the Russian Government had apparently favoured the way the White Helmets (a voluntary rescue group in Syria) had been portrayed.

As and when more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to keep this article updates with anything we find. Luckily, the rest of the world are going to be playing the beta and the game on release day without the concerns above.

I've been a gamer ever since I was old enough to hold a controller, early 90's to be exact. My first console was a NES, with my favourite games ranging from Super Mario to Duck Hunt. Fast forward almost 30 years and I'm now a PS4, PC and Switch player. My ideal genres are RPG and RTS titles, so Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts, Viv 6 and Two Point Hospital are included in my mix.
